In his track "SYL," Moosewala lists issues faced by Punjab in its relationship with the Indian central government. The main concern highlighted is the appropriation of Punjab's water resources through the ongoing construction of the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal. Moosewala cautions that such persistent maltreatment cannot be accepted any longer.

SYL is the first song released after Sidhu Moosewala’s death. In it, Sidhu is frustrated by Punjab’s lack of control over its waters. He attacks the Satluj Yamuna Link canal which would require Punjab to share a big portion of its water with Haryana. Both states are in a water crisis largely from water mismanagement and the emphasis on rice production. While Sidhu also mentions other issues pertaining to Punjab’s relations with the Indian central government including: Operation Blue Star, police brutality, captive Sikh activists, and farmer rights many of these issues stem from the gross mismanagement of water by the Indian central government. With alarming water loss in many Indian states there has been no coordinated effort to address this issue. While Sidhu is well known for gangster rap brand, SYL shows his artistic ability to voice the frustrations of his people while raising awareness about an important social issue. #SavePunjabWaters
